Atlantic City 70.3
Lodging: Please provide any useful information about accommodations in the area. If a local race, please leave blank.
We stayed in an Air BnB in Atlantic City proper. Although the house was not in a nice area, it was a very nice house and it was great to have our meals together. I would recommend this particular house. I would not recommend leaving the house at night.
Athlete Check in: Please provide useful information about athlete check in. Did you walk from where you stayed? If not, how was parking?
Athlete check in was a drive no matter where one was staying. The parking was in a field so there was plenty for everyone. No issues at all.
Race Morning Logistics: What time did you leave for transition? Did you leave enough time? Parking? Things you wish you knew or happy you knew before the race. Swim Start
In retrospect, we should have left more time to drive to transition. There are only two roads that lead to the race start and they both back up. It took us 45 minutes to drive a few miles. For this race, I would make it a point to line up early. The swim start is a bit of a walk from transition so it's easy to forget to head over.
T1: Things you wish you knew or happy you did about T1
T1 was straight forward. It was well marked. It was raining and I'm glad i covered my gear.
Bike: Useful information here
They call this bike course 'closed' but it really isn't a completely closed course. They cone off one of the lanes, so there are cars and trucks buzzing by just a few feet from where you are riding. Make it a point to stay to your right unless passing and even then, get right back over to your right. This is a three loop course so there will be lots of riders passing... and they don't call out so it's best to just stay to the right.
T2:
Same as T1. Everything was well marked.
Run: Helpful information about the run
The run is mostly on the boardwalk with is great. There are a few times, you veer off the boardwalk and run adjacent either on the road or on the sand that has mats laid on top. It's a great run for seeing others you may know on the course and anyone spectating. The post race activities were mostly rained out but we still had fun.
