Name Nicki Mammina Email nmammina@mac.com Event Name and Distance Ironman Lake Placid Lodging: Please provide any useful information about accommodations in the area. If a local race, please leave blank. Golden Arrow!! Lake front rooms provide a great communal outdoor space for putting your feet up before the race. Athlete Check in: Please provide useful information about athlete check in. Did you walk from where you stayed? If not, how was parking? Athlete check in is held indoors in the conference center, which is a very short walk from the hotel. There usually isn't much of a wait, and you move quickly through each station. Race Morning Logistics: What time did you leave for transition? Did you leave enough time? Parking? Things you wish you knew or happy you knew before the race. Swim Start The other huge benefit to staying at Golden Arrow is the close proximity to the swim start. I usually go down to transition early, get my bike stuff set, then head back to the room for breakfast and my swim stuff, and let's be honest, to use the bathroom. T1: Things you wish you knew or happy you did about T1 Keep it simple! Too many choices can lead to confusion and wasted time in T1. Bike: Useful information here The hills are much steeper the second time around. Keeping to my plan, using power, and not getting caught up in the excitement and the hype made for a smart race and left me with legs for the run. Weather and wind can be a huge factor on this course. T2: Just the necessities. Run: Helpful information about the run Just keep moving forward. The best part about the two loop out and back run is seeing teammates and familiar faces along the way.

Name Andrea Kay Email andreakay72@hotmail.com Event Name and Distance Atlantic City 70.3 Lodging: Please provide any useful information about accommodations in the area. If a local race, please leave blank. We stayed in an Air BnB in Atlantic City proper. Although the house was not in a nice area, it was a very nice house and it was great to have our meals together. I would recommend this particular house. I would not recommend leaving the house at night. Athlete Check in: Please provide useful information about athlete check in. Did you walk from where you stayed? If not, how was parking? Athlete check in was a drive no matter where one was staying. The parking was in a field so there was plenty for everyone. No issues at all. Race Morning Logistics: What time did you leave for transition? Did you leave enough time? Parking? Things you wish you knew or happy you knew before the race. Swim Start In retrospect, we should have left more time to drive to transition. There are only two roads that lead to the race start and they both back up. It took us 45 minutes to drive a few miles. For this race, I would make it a point to line up early. The swim start is a bit of a walk from transition so it's easy to forget to head over. T1: Things you wish you knew or happy you did about T1 T1 was straight forward. It was well marked. It was raining and I'm glad i covered my gear. Bike: Useful information here They call this bike course 'closed' but it really isn't a completely closed course. They cone off one of the lanes, so there are cars and trucks buzzing by just a few feet from where you are riding. Make it a point to stay to your right unless passing and even then, get right back over to your right. This is a three loop course so there will be lots of riders passing... and they don't call out so it's best to just stay to the right. T2: Same as T1. Everything was well marked. Run: Helpful information about the run The run is mostly on the boardwalk with is great. There are a few times, you veer off the boardwalk and run adjacent either on the road or on the sand that has mats laid on top. It's a great run for seeing others you may know on the course and anyone spectating. The post race activities were mostly rained out but we still had fun.
